October 12, 2008 - We have had some warm weather, but I think the cold is right around the corner. We have picked all the pumpkins out of the field. But we still have plenty of mums! They are growing in a field and sure do look pretty! |

September 18, 2008 - Fall is beginning to come to the farm. We survived Hurricane Ike's invasion of Ohio. Fortunately, we kept our power. A section of the greenhouse curtain was torn off. We also lost a lot of red raspberries and blackberries that were beginning to ripen. The animals were all fine and we feel fortunate after such a storm. We are finished with sweet corn. The extreme drought before Ike killed our last two plantings of sweet corn. We recorded 50 days on no rain on the farm. We are digging mums out of our field for customers. It's beautiful to see the rows of mums in full bloom. |

August 30 , 2008 - The baby pigs are getting bigger. They are really showing their personality. This weekend we plan to begin getting the pumpkins out of the field. Soon our front lawn will be orange with pumpkins. |
August 13, 2008 - It's been a while since I've written. What a busy summer! The newest event is the birth of a litter of pigs. They are now one week old and I've been busy keeping a watch on them. We've moved into red raspberry and blackberry season. Sweet corn and tomatoes are also ready to be picked! I've been watching the pumpkins get bigger and fall will be here before we know it. |

| June 16, 2008 - Peas are now ready. We have sugar snap, English garden and Oriental peas. That means I have a lot of pea fields to watch! | |
| June 12, 2008 - We are in the middle of strawberry season and the picking is great! I'm very busy this time of year. I have to greet the customers and play with any children who come. We are open 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., so you can see it's a very long day! | |

May 3, 2008 - Our greenhouse is finally up and running. right now, there are tomatoes growing inside, so we will have early tomatoes to sell on the farm. The only problem I have in the greenhouse is when it's really hot outside because the tempature inside is 30 degrees hotter! |

May 1, 2008 - The strawberries are blooming! We will have strawberries in three weeks! Mark your calendars to begin strawberry picking on Memorial Day weekend. |
| April 26, 2008 - Today we finished putting tomato plants on the new greenhouse. There are 200 tomatoes and we expect to begin harvesting at the end of June. | |
March 29, 2008 - It's been a busy late winter. Today we began taking the straw off the strawberries. We are also busy putting up a greenhouse. The tomatoes that will be in the greenhouse have already been growing in the house. The baby pigs are growing! Click here to see their pictures! |

January 21, 2008 - The countdown has begun. We have a sow on the farm that is getting ready to have her babies. She is due at the end of the week. We've made a special pen for her in the barn. Our barn is old and not heated. We've made a special pen so we are ready for her to farrow (which is the farm term for a pig having piglets). It's very important for the piglets to have a warm place (about 80 degrees) when they are born. We've hung heat lamps and hope for warmer weather when she's ready to farrow. Here's a picture of "Hollywood" taken in the summer. |

January 12, 2008 - Turkeys! The wildlife is exciting to see in rural Champaign county. We can hear the wild turkeys calling in the spring when we are out working in the strawberries. In the fall and winter they come out of the woods to graze in our neighbor's cornfield. |
| January 10, 2008 - We had three days of 60 degree weather which means January thaw! The warm weather has brought the deer out of the woods. My primary job this time of the year is to chase the deer away from the berry patches. As a Collie, I think it's fun to herd them! | |
January 1, 2008 - Happy new year! Winter is here and I've had fun playing in the snow. The strawberries have been put to bed under straw. We've been busy pruning the raspberries and blackberries. Winter brings short days and long nights, which I enjoy -- more rest! We've been looking through the seed catalogs and dreaming about spring. Winter is when we have time to make jam! We freeze the berries from the summer and make jam for Christmas. Nothing tastes like summer like strawberry jam. |
